About The Bushman

"I am a photographer, a writer, and a part-time base user (All your base are belong to you - I just draw on your base). I am apparently capable of being quite deep at times, though it rarely occurs to me. I enjoy talking to people, and I'd say the best part about dA is being able to meet other artists from around the world and learning from them." (From my devID)
Well, let's see. You know that kid in high school who was in, like, every music and art class? Well I'm that kid, to a lesser degree. Currently I'm taking two incarnations of choir and a class on percussion. Anyhow, I started this blog as part of assignment from one of my other classes - Digital Photography. I have to do a project where I find photos and say what I do or don't like about them. So, since I love giving back to my fellow dA members, I figured I would use my awesome powers - if you call having a blog awesome - to help newer photographers learn how to develop their skills. By the way, my dA username is Skuhweer, if you want to check out some of my stuff.

I don't consider myself a professional photographer, but I do know that I'm not exactly an amateur, either. Yes, I do have a bit of an ego (sounds like someone I know *coughPaxtoncough*), but I think it's a good thing to have confidence in your art, so I'm not aware of any adverse affects my ego may have.  I like to take pictures in general, but I seem to have an eye for macro and flowers (I have nearly a year of experience with flowers).  I plan to sell senior portraits next year for my senior project in an attempt to earn some moolah for the choir's NYC trip next spring.

I have always been somewhat interested in photography, and I'd probably use my mom's old, rather nice film camera if I wasn't convinced that I'd waste a lot of money doing so. As it is, I managed to talk my way into receiving a Canon DSLR Rebel XS for Christmas a few months ago, and I'm finally learning how to adjust the settings (something I didn't learn the last time I took a digital photography class).  I've been taking photos for around a year and a half, and I'm proud to see how much I've improved over that time.  I'm going to point out that my DSLR was like a Rare Candy2 (Pokemon reference, here) for my photography.

You internet peoples can call me Arisa, as that's what I officially go by on the interweb, or Bushman (it's what a friend used to call me).

My official interests are vague, but they are as follows (in no particular order): Music, Anime, Manga, Web Comics, Writing, Reading, Photography, Nutrition (particularly why the Paleo lifestyle is healthier than the modern lifestyle, though if you want to argue for wheat, be my guest), politics (particularly conspiracy theories involving big bankers and a one world government), and I do like dancing, though I will never be caught dancing enthusiastically in public.

I have a few labels that I've given myself, some of which aren't really things to be proud of (though I am): Atheist, Anarchist (because I think Governments don't work any better than chaos does), Artist, Carnivore, Carbophobic, Anti-Twilighter, intellectual, etc. I'm rather close to becoming the president of the local robotics team, and I'm supposed to graduate next year (and I plan to do so, as much as it scares me).

I have a tendency to ramble, sometimes, as you can see.
